APAC-PTB ADAPT Digitalization for Accreditation Bodies

March 2nd, 2026

As part of the APAC-PTB Digital Transformation of Accreditation in the Asia-Pacific Region (ADAPT) project an in-person Digitalisation in Accreditation: A Practical 4-Day Training Course will be held from 2-5 March 2026 in Bangkok for APAC Members and Affiliates. This training course is kindly hosted by the German Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Accreditation bodies across the Asia-Pacific region are increasingly looking to digitalise their processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the services they provide to customers and stakeholders. The course has been designed specifically for individuals responsible for guiding or supporting digital transformation within their accreditation body, particularly those without an IT background who need clarity, confidence, and practical tools to move forward. During the training, participants will build a comprehensive understanding of what digitalisation means in the context of accreditation, what is possible within their own organisations, and how to manage change effectively. The course blends short presentations, interactive exercises, and group work, ensuring a highly practical and applied learning experience.

What Participants Will Learn

Across the four days, participants will:

  1. Understand their current digital landscape

Participants begin by mapping the data inputs, outputs, workflows, and communication channels within their own accreditation processes. This establishes a clear baseline for identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

  1. Explore digitalisation options for accreditation processes

The course introduces a range of digitalisation approaches relevant to accreditation bodies, including structured data, platform-based communications, digital record management, automation, and user-friendly system design.

  1. Learn core principles essential for successful digital transformation

Key topics include:

  • Change-management strategies
  • Digital maturity concepts
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals for accreditation bodies
  • Designing systems that support users, customers, and stakeholders
  • Opportunities, risks, and challenges associated with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence

These sessions equip participants with the language, concepts, and tools to engage confidently with colleagues, IT providers, customers, and senior leadership.

  1. Apply learning through a practical business case exercise

By the final day, participants will work, supported by the trainers and their peers, to draft a business case for a digitalisation initiative tailored to their own accreditation body. This includes:

  • Defining the problem or opportunity
  • Describing the proposed digital solution
  • Identifying benefits, risks, and resource needs
  • Outlining key steps for implementation

This ensures participants leave the training with something concrete that they can refine and present within their organisation.

Who Should Attend?

Attendees are expected to be APAC Member personnel. This course is ideal for:

  • Operational managers
  • Quality and technical staff
  • Policy or process-improvement personnel
  • Anyone tasked with supporting or leading digitalisation efforts within their accreditation body

No specialist IT knowledge is required.
